The PadelGrass team will take care of the entire padel court installation: from the preparation of the ground to the installation of the cages to the artificial grass. Quality, sports performances, safety, and durability are our core values. In the last two years, we have installed several padel courts in the Netherlands for tennis clubs and sports centres. PadelGrass courts comply with the FIP and KNLTB Padel standards.
What to consider when installing a padel court?
When installing a padel court, there are several things to consider. We will advise you on all these points at the start of your padel project:
-
Location: The location of your padel court must meet the requirements for lighting, noise, ventilation, and drainage system. When choosing a location, it is also important to level the area and remove soil and other obstacles from the surface.
-
Dimensions: The padel court dimensions must be in accordance with local and international padel regulations. For competitions, it must also have a run-out area.
-
Drainage: The playing surface should be kept dry at all times. Adequate drainage for synthetic grass should be provided to avoid flooding.
-
Artificial grass: The choice of grass turf is important for the playing quality of your padel players.
-
Padel cage: The padel cage construction should be made from high-quality materials. This means a strong frame and safe glass according to local and international padel standards
- Lighting: This a crucial aspect in ensuring that padel players can always see the ball clearly and play safely. Elements such as brightness, uniformity and colour temperature can help to improve padel play.
The padel court installation must be done according to the official guidelines and standards of local and international padel federations. To ensure this, you need an experienced partner like PadelGrass to carry out the installation for you.
How is your padel court built?
The substructure of a padel field consists of several layers. That’s why the padel court construction is done in several steps:
1. Preparation of the site: sand and substructure
The first thing is to select and prepare the right location. This contains removing any obstacles and levelling the ground. The existing sod will be removed and transported.
In case it concerns a renovation/rebuilding of a tennis court to a padel court, in any case, we can use the existing sand substructure, assuming it meets the necessary standards.
For a brand new padel field construction, we build the sand substructure following the necessary standards in your country.
After finishing the sand substructure, the drainage system will be installed.
2. Construction subbase and foundation
Padel is becoming increasingly popular. It is a dynamic racket sport that you can do with friends. A solid foundation is therefore becoming more and more important when building a padel court. It is the basis for the entire padel court construction and guarantees the solidity of the sports pitch. It has to withstand the intense movements while playing padel, including jumping, running and hitting the ball with maximum safety. The choice depends on several factors including the location, climate and soil type. Our team of experts will advise you on the most suitable foundation for your specific situation:
Padel court with ring foundation
This is a cylindrical structure dug into the ground to a predetermined depth, filled with concrete and capped with reinforced concrete.
How do we do this?
- Foam concrete is poured on the destined surface
- A trench is made into the foam concrete surface
- Armoured is placed into the trench and poured with regular concrete.
A padel court with a ring foundation offers the following benefits:
- Stable surface: a ring foundation provides a solid and reliable sub-base with high resistance to weather and other wear factors
- Sustainable: the strong concrete and steel material makes it very durable and long-lasting
- Flexible: the foundation can be adapted to various specific requirements including size, shape and site conditions.;
3. Installing padel cage, glass and lighting
A padel cage consists of a galvanised frame, glass panels and lighting. The PadelGrass team follows the following steps during the installation. They always do this with due care:
- Install the galvanised padel cage frame. It is important that the frame is always straight and level
- Place the glass panels. It is necessary to measure and mark the positions of the panels. We apply here the appropriate safety measures like gloves and safety goggles
- Installation of lights. Ensure that the manufacturer's wiring instructions are followed.
- Inspection of padel court installation. Screws, bolts and other hardware are checked for tightness. Rigidity is checked to ensure it can withstand a padel game
4. Laying out the padel artificial grass
Installing artificial grass for a padel court is a good choice to provide a durable playing surface for your players. The general steps the PadelGrass teams follow are:
- Rolling out the grass turf and cutting it to the correct dimensions of the padel court
- Securing the artificial turf with stakes or adhesives. Edges will be trimmed
- Artificial grass will be filled with sand and divided over the surface with a brush
- After finishing the artificial grass. Net and net poles will be installed
5. Final inspection of the entire construction
On completion, a final check is carried out on all installed components. This includes:
- Verification of the dimensions of the pitch
- Check that the walls, glass panels and nets are properly secured and stable
- Test the lighting and recheck the wiring
- Verification of compliance with local and international regulations and standards
We build your padel court with the utmost care. It is important for you as a padel club/association to be able to offer as many players as possible a pleasant sports field for a long time.

padel court maintenance after the installation
Once installed, your padel court will need regular maintenance. This will ensure that the padel court remains in optimal conditions in terms for several reasons:
- Players' performance: regular padel court maintenance keeps the surface clean, smooth and levelled. This ensures that the ball bounces optimally and that the players always perform at their best
- Safety for the players: regular padel court maintenance can quickly identify problems such as loose hardware, uneven surface and cracks. These can then be rectified quickly, reducing the risk of injury during play
- Tidy appearance: a well-maintained padel field will always look fresh and tidy. This improves the overall atmosphere of the playing area and keeps the courts attractive to players at all times
- Longer lifespan: maintaining your padel court extends the life of your sports pitch and prevents premature wear
Because a padel court needs to be maintained regularly, it requires extra effort from the padel club. Setting up a maintenance schedule and proving a maintenance team are some examples of this. Once your padel field has been installed, you can choose to leave certain tasks or even the entire padel court maintenance programme to the PadelGrass team.
What does the maintenance of your padel court involve?
A padel court is made up of several elements, such as the frame, glass panels, lighting and artificial grass. Each component requires specific maintenance:
Frame and netting
The galvanised steel frame is cleaned and checked for damage. Bolts and nuts throughout the structure are also checked and tightened if necessary. Nets are replaced when worn out.
Lighting
Lighting will be tested and wiring will be checked. In the event of damage, necessary items will be replaced.
Glass panels
The glass panels are fully inspected for cracks, chips or other damage and repaired if found. These are then cleaned with ozone water.
Artificial grass
The first step is to thoroughly inspect the artificial turf surface. This includes checking the stability of all seams, line markings and the condition of the sand. Root weeds are removed and then the artificial grass drainage system is thoroughly checked for clogs or damage and repaired or replaced if necessary.
After the inspection, the artificial grass turf is brushed and the sand is replenished and spread at the right level.
